Plot

Blending interviews with live-action footage, *Rising Through the Fray* takes us inside Indigenous Rising Roller Derby, the first international squad uniting Indigenous players from different nations. For Sour Cherry, Krispy, Hawaiian Blaze, and their teammates, the sport becomes far more than a game. It offers sisterhood, strength, belonging, and healing. On camera, they open up about being displaced, carrying intergenerational trauma, and the relief of rediscovering their culture through community. This fierce, feminist documentary lets these women claim their right to live life on their own terms.
